Advanced Certificate in Early Years
(Alternate Pathway)
About Course
If you have other early childhood qualifications and would like to apply for the Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY) via an alternate pathway, you may sign up for the 2 pre-requisite modules here. You will need to pass these modules before going on to complete ACEY.
Acquire knowledge and skills
Acquire necessary practical knowledge and skills to interact, plan and implement programmes, and set up conducive environments in childcare settings for children from birth to three years of age.
Deepen your understanding
Understand the guiding principles behind the practices of the Early Years Development Framework (EYDF). Apply and implement the suggested practices stated in the EYDF in their work with young children and families.
Field-based training
Participate in 3 practicums totalling 200 hours in an ECDA-registered early childhood development centre with infant care.
Entry Requirements

ECDA-certified EY1 Educarer, and have completed either WSQ Higher Certificate in Infant Care (WSQ HCIC) or the Certificate in Infant/Toddler Care and Development (CITC) and the Early Years Development Framework course; OR
-
Completed Fundamentals Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (FCECCE) or Relief Staff Programme (RSP) or Allied Infant Educarer (AIE) Programme; AND have the following:

Minimum of 1 year relevant work experience from attainment of course certificate (FECCE / HCIC / RSP / AIE - Basic Infant Care); AND
- Obtained ONE of the following:
- An English Language Acceptable Alternatives (ELAA), e.g. a minimum band 6.5 in IELTS (Academic); OR
- An average of SOA 5 in the Workplace Literacy (WPL) Comprehensive Series, consisting of Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing with at least an SOA 5 for the Writing component.

Recommendation letter from current centre; AND

Pass interview and written test; AND
-
Pass a pre-requisite module in ACEY prior to completion of the remainder of the course.

Upon Graduation
Upon successful completion of the 1 pre-requisite module, applicants will continue with the remaining 525 hours of the ACEY course to obtain the ACEY certification.
ACEY graduates will be awarded with a certificate, and eligible for certification as EY2 educarers. EY2 educarers will be qualified to work with infants, playgroups, pre-nursery groups, and children from 2 months to 3 years of age.
